Development Funds

The Constituencies Development Fund

(CDF) is one of the many development initiatives being undertaken by the government to address poverty in the country. The main purpose of the fund is to ensure that a specific portion of the Annual Government Ordinary Revenue is devoted to the Constituencies for purposes of development and in particular in the fight against poverty at the constituency level..

Youth Enterprise Development Fund

The Government is determined to put in place policies to address both the immediate and long-term challenges facing the youth. Foremost is unemployment, which is one of the most daunting challenges facing the youth today. Young people who qualify from our institutions of learning come out with high hopes of securing employment and contributing to the development of our country. Unemployment causes disillusionment among the youth.

In Kenya, we see the Youth Fund as a good incubator of enterprises that will one day be global players. However, my advice to the youth is that patience and innovation are great virtues in business. As you venture into business, you will face numerous challenges. You should not be discouraged, but instead you should remain focussed. "President Kibaki advised the Youth"

Constituency Bursary Fund (CFB)

The Government is seeking ways of increasing bursary allocations to secondary school students.
The current allocation is Sh800 million. Each constituency is given funds based on enrolment levels in the schools and the poverty index.
"Learning institutions should not force parents to incur extra costs by implementing projects that are not beneficial to the learning process,"

Kibaki Launches Women Fund

President Mwai Kibaki has challenged women to increase their participation in the formal business sector by taking advantage of a Sh5 billion Women Investment Fund he launched.

The President said women countrywide should take advantage of the fund together with the Sh2 billion Women Development Fund initiated by the government to unleash their full potential in business.
